"Walk By Faith, Not By Sight" 2 Corinthians 5:7
It’s December 1st, and you know what that means? It means it’s time for Christmas, and for Blogmas! What is blogmas? Well, to start, I’m a newbie to it too. Blogmas, though, is a celebration of mega blogging. The goal is to blog once a day from December 1st to December 25th. Many focus just on the holiday season, though it’s not required. My goal is to post everyday, and actually follow the schedule. We will see how that goes. But, hey! Merry Christmas!
Today, I want to share with you what Christmas means to me, and why I celebrate. Like in The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, I think that Christmas is so much more than the bows, presents, the trees.
Christmas is a time of celebration, and reflection. The root of the word is, ‘Christ,’ which to me is the meaning of Christmas. It’s a time to celebrate Jesus Christ’s birth, his coming to save the human race from sin. It’s a time to reflect on how much we are blessed, and why it is important to not get so caught up in the festivities.
Though the gifts are great, and so are all the cookies (don’t worry, I’ll be sharing recipes this month), the gift of salvation is so much better. It’s amazing to think that a tiny baby changed the world.
Don’t get me wrong, we still do gifts, stockings, cookies, and caroling. But, the true meaning of Christmas, for me, stems from Christ himself.
What does Christmas mean to you?
